Trail WalkGuided Walks & Hikes

Explore the landscape with the Mulranny Environmental Groups‘s local guides and discover the underworld of resident rare bees, butterflies, Belted Beauty Moths & brutish Green Tiger Beetles!  Discuss the history of the area & our Old Irish Goats.

In 2010 M.E.G. (Mulranny Environmental Group)  & South West Mayo Development Company established the 6km Mulranny National Loop Walk.  The trail accesses 3 of Europe’s finest conservation areas; Clew Bay, the Nephin Owenduff Mountain Range  & the Curraun Peninsula.

The trail takes in several habitats including salt-marsh, Atlantic blanket bog, & woodland.   Scottish Blackface Sheep & Old Irish Goats are a common sight on the trail. One may also encounter, Peregrine Falcon & wintering Brent Geese.

The Mulranny Loop Walk, described as ‘one of the most beautiful short walks on this Island’ was made possible by the generosity of over twenty  local landowners. The Mulranny Environmental Group continues to work with local landowners to develop additional high amenity trails.
